Review: Acne Skincare Products

As some of my readers sent me emails to ask how effective/good the acne skincare products which I have bought and shared with you about in this previous post were, so I decided to write a brief review on those products.

(1) Bye Bye Blemish for acne Drying Lotion
It states 'results overnight' on the box. In my opinion, it doesn't make your pimples disappear overnight, but it probably will reduce the pimple size. So if they guarantee results, I guess they meant that instead! The contents in the glass bottle is made up of the pinkish-beige sulfur sendiments and a transparent liquid which is the salicylic acid. And if you have been using acne products long enough, you should be familiar with salicyclic acid as it is a common ingredient found in most acne treatment products.

One shouldn't shake the bottle to mix the two ingredients, but leave it separated as it is. Use a cotton swab and dip it straight into the sulfur sendiment. Take the cotton swab out and dab it on your acne. Leave it overnight. It does not turn colorless but remains the same color on your face... Something like calamine lotion. And do not put too much as it may lead to excessive drying, and that will be very inconvenient when it comes to makeup application!

If you ask me how I would rate this product, I give it a 3.5 out of 5. I like how it helps to reduce the pimple size and reddishness quickly, but the smell is kinda horrible! You have to accept that smell if you wanna try this product.

Now, since this product leaves the color on your face, it is impossible to apply this under your makeup when you need to head out. So I am extremely glad to discover this product which helps to combat my acne yet it is colorless! And that is the ZapZyt Acne Treatment Gel (pictured in the middle of the above picture)!!!

When you squeeze the Zapzyt contents out from the tube, you will notice it is like the usual white-colored cream. But once you apply the cream onto your blemishes and gently rub, it turns colorless. It feels very lightweight too... But excessive drying can occur. Despite that, I like this alot as this product is suitable to apply before you put on your makeup! But please remember to apply sunscreen on your face too. After applying this product for a few days on some of my acne spots, it really does reduce and/or make my blemishes and those small tiny (oil?) bumps disappear.

This product is said to help to prevent and treat whiteheads and blackheads too. As I do not really have blackheads, I have no idea if it really works. Overall, I like this and I will definitely repurchase this. But then again, I will still continue to use my other acne treatment products (all-time faves of mine) - The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil and this pimple cream (Nixoderm).

One way of preventing acne is to regularly use a facial scrub on your face.... But dont scrub your face too hard yah? It doesnt work that way hor! I have been using Queen Helene Oatmeal and Honey for a long time now, and I must say that one reason why I managed to control/solve my acne breakout was because of this product. Despite being 'failthful' to it, I still went on to purchase another facial scrub from St Ives. It regards itself as a 'Daily Microdermabrasion' scrub. So for those who feels the pinch going for a microderma session, you may want to try this out.

I like how smooth and soft my skin feels after using this product. But it smells weird, like 'medicine-weird'. On the other hand, I liked how it was formulated without the use of Paraben, which is a type of chemical found in most cosmetic/skincare products. So what's so bad about parabens? It was said that it may be one of the causes for breast cancer and may have an effect for declining sperm count. You may like to click [HERE] to read an article about it. Though several studies and researchs have been conducted, it does not, I repeat, does not, states that paraben is a direct cause for those negative health conditions, as there is no scientific evidence up till now that proves the hypothesis right.

With that being said, I would not buy this again (even if it is paraben-free) as I very much prefer the Queen Helene scrub... which you should give it a try if you have not done so. It really does help in solving your acne woes (at least for me~)! :)
