Organic Living with MELILEA

We have entered into yet another new year, and I am sure that some of us would already created a list of resolutions to achieve in 2016. One of my resolutions is to lead a healthier life, in terms of mental/emotional, food and lifestyle. And as of recent, I have started consuming a certain brand of organic health drinks from the brand, MELILEA, hoping to improve my general health and beauty from inside out.

Through her speech, it showed her charismatic and inspirational leadership qualities, which left me in awe after that. She is indeed an excellent example for all ladies - Whereby ladies can have a family while being financially independent and successful at the same time.

Through her experiences and success gained in her business and family, she shared many anecdotes and stories with us, which are completely logical and inspiring. Her quote that she shared during her speech, "You cannot be lazy, and take things easy", has been my Whatsapp status message ever since, even till now. I also remembered her saying that "You must be a good follower in order to be a good leader". And most importantly, all ladies should have 女人"味". However, a lady should remember that no matter how high the position that she may hold at work, she needs to remember her 女人"位" when she is home - To be a good Wife, a Mother, a Daughter and a Daughter-In-Law.

The Pelican bird, as mentioned on this website, is said to be a symbol that holds great affinity with seafarers who would find their way back to land after a long voyage to celebrate their homecoming. And at The Pelican Seafood Bar and Grill, the restaurant aims to provide a comfortable and welcoming setting for their diners.

Located at One Fullerton, The Pelican has an indoor seating area, as well as an alfresco deck where a DJ spins lounge music, and with a splendid view of the Marina Bay Sands that is directly opposite, across the river.

If you do recall my blog post back in May (Otherwise, click HERE to read), where I introduced and shared on the perks of The Entertainer app, well... The Pelican is one of their dining partners. Just to share with you, I did visit The Pelican for dinner once, also in May. I was around the area that evening, and had no idea where I should have dinner at. Hence, I simply took out my phone and accessed The Entertainer app, to locate nearby restaurants (Wonderful feature, I must say! For those "I-don't-know-what-or-where-to eat" and "I-don't-have-craving-" moments, especially!). I decided on The Pelican as I thought a view of the Marina Bay area would be wonderful.

And of course, I used The Entertainer app to enjoy the 1-for-1 main course promo.

If you had followed me on IG and seen the photo that I posted (and my comments), then you should know what I felt on the food and service at The Pelican back then.

I would say, the only good thing about dining here was the fact that I was able to catch the MBS laser light show from the alfresco area where I was sitting, while enjoying the music that the DJ was spinning. Photo below of the MBS and its laser light show was taken when I was having my dinner at The Pelican back then in May.

But then again, I visited The Pelican recently,

for the second time as I was there to attend an event, 

kindly invited by the wonderful Entertainer team! :)

We had an assortment of tapas food served to us, and it was like a never-ending flow of it. I love oysters, hence I was delighted that it was served  to me over and over again!

Instead of standing by the Bay, I could sip my Belvedere cocktails while seated comfortably and watch the fireworks display.

CURIOUS TO KNOW HOW MUCH

I HAVE SAVED SO FAR??? READ ON!

Since April 2014, this is the amount that I have saved so far!

(As of 26 August 2014)

And this is an estimation only.

Because the app shows an automated saving amount based on the average menu price..

For example, it was reflected that I saved $29.33 when I dined at LeVeL33 last Thursday.

However, in actual fact, I saved close to SGD50!

Thus, I have actually saved more than $530 thus far!!! ^_^

So... If you ask me if this app is worth it to fork out initial money for, I will say YES, YES, YES!!!

 

Review: Bodacious Bar & Bistro

The word 'Bodiacious' (bəʊˈdeɪʃəs), as per the Oxford Dictionaries site, means excellent, admirable or attractive. It is also perhaps an amalgam of the two words - Bold and Audacious. And in the case of the recent place which I have visited during an afternoon, I would very much love to say that its name, Bodacious Bar & Bistro, was very befitting for them.

As much as how Biomedical science findings can be bodacious, a game-changer, or even life-changing, the Bodacious Bistro is located in the area where international research and development of biomedical science takes place - Biopolis (Address mentioned at end of blogpost).

The Bodacious Bistro is the brainchild by the same guys that opened the Long Black Cafe (just across the road). I had lunch at the Long Black Cafe (Friend took me there as he was friends with the owner, and I loved the coffee there) sometime in 2012 if I remembered correctly. I had a short chat with the the owner back then, and was really impressed with the coffee.

Entering into the bistro, I was greeted by the Bodacious staff, and since there were not many people at the time I was there, I could freely select my desired seats from the plentiful seats that were available (both alfresco and indoor = 130 seats). There were the coffee tables and couches , bar tables and stools, communal tablem etc. And of course, I chose the luxe-looking dark brown leather couch at the corner. 

I simply loved the whole dark cum industrial chicness of this place. It is simply a very cosy place to bring your Significant Other, or to have a gathering with your bunch of close girl friends. For me, I was glad to spend this special afternoon with my dear Sis.

My sis, despite her preference for tea than coffee, is always game enough to try out new cafe or coffee places with me, where she will usually order tea. Well, glad she likes her tea, as that meant I got to have my ten-second "Oh my god... So interesting!" gushing moment when her Tea Forte's Honey Yuzu came in this pyramid-shaped silk infuser with a leaf on top! CUTE RIGHT?

What drew me to this place was that I discovered that this place serves CHURROS! My love for churros, also known as Spanish fritters, came about during my younger days when I frequently treated myself to the churros at the old Heeren (Who remembers it??). The churros at Bodacious were coated with sugar and came with the chocolate dip (which I felt that it could have been thicker). But overall, it was chewy and delicious.

I liked how I could have an overview of the bistro from where I was sitting.
And the power point was just beside me, for me to charge my phones haha!

And there are the unicycle seats too! Don't worry, it's fixed firmly.
You can dine in peace without worrying that you need to balance yourself while sitting on it. :p

I like the signs actually. Or rather, the friendly staff who
posed instinctively when they saw my camera! Haha!
Signs were like no-brainers to indicate the coffee preparation and cashier areas.
I likes the whole bright and bulb design of the signs.

If you ask me if I will visit again, I will say yes!
For I want to try the breakfast menu,
and ESPECIALLY the fatty duck confit (maybe for dinner).
And yes, the coffee is good.
