Review: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Care

Hada Labo logo

Thanks to Hada Labo and its PR agency, I received a parcel containing three products from the Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Care range.

Have you ever heard of Hada Labo? It is a skincare line that was introduced only after an extensive research and assurance of pharmaceutical grade standards of quality, by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. Japan and The Mentholatum Co.

Hada Labo

Typically, one will usually review a product after a week or fortnight of usage right? But since I am still using it after 1.5 month, you can kinda guess that I have nothing but raves for these products! And why is that so? Read on! :)

When I received news that Hada Labo would be landing on our shores, I was pretty excited. That was because Hada Labo is super HOT in Japan, especially their signature product: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion.

So popular that a bottle is sold every 4 seconds in Japan!
So hydrating that one drop of this is like locking up an ocean!

Hada Labo One Drop

This product is so popular and awesome that it even has a beauty cult following in other countries such as Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea. And now, it is available in Singapore! Total YAYness!

So this is the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion.
Hada Labo

The hydrating lotion is like a toner, so you use it after you cleanse your face and right before you apply your face moisturizer. As much as it feels watery, it has a slight stickiness to it. For each usage, I will apply 2 drops of it onto my face and neck. Yes, the neck --- It is important to keep it hydrated to prevent fine lines and dullness. It takes quite a while for the skin to absorb the lotion though. So I have to wait for it to do just that, before carrying on with my face moisturizer and/or essence.

I am willing to bear with the stickiness of the hydrating lotion due to the face that its hydrophilic nature aids in the locking of moisture as it enetrates into the deepest layer of my skin. In this way, my skin gets hydrated and nourished from within! :D

Although it was instructed to pat the hydrating lotion onto the skin in a particular way (as how its shown in the Youtube video below), I tend to dab it on various points on my face and gently rub them in circles and spreading them all around in the process. And yes, just use your hands, no need for cotton pads. So make sure your hands are freaking clean! :p

The way to pat the lotion onto your face~

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Wash
Hada Labo

For my facial cleanser, I have been using the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Wash on a two-times-a-day basis for the past 1.5 month. Simply squeeze a little out and it is enough to cleanse your face. I like the fact that this product hydrates my skin as it cleanses. This is probably why my skin does not have that "tight feeling" that we may have sometimes after using certain facial cleansers.

I got @anthonyl1m to try it. After he had used it for a couple of days, he liked it as it contains no smell/fragrance. Then, he started to use the facial wash too!

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Essence
Hada Labo

I tend to use essence products only at night, prior to sleep. This is because I feel that the ingredients found in the serum tend to be more "rich". This is one of the few serum products that I have ever tried in my life that can be considered as not being 'very oily'. However, this essence feels rather sticky. The essence is meant to be patted onto the face but once again I prefer to dab it around my face, and then go in circles to spread it all around my face.

For this Hada Labo essence, I feel that my skin tend to feel a little oily the next morning. And this is despite using only a small amount of the essence. This would be my least favourite product of the three. :X

Even my beloved penguin loves the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating range due to the hydrating abilities! Afterall, my penguin needs all the hydration, living in a tropical country like Singapore! But hey, we need to use such hydrating products during winter too, since our skin tends to get dry too~

I have been mentioning Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) throughout the blog entry... So what exactly is it? It is a type of HA that aids in keeping our skin hydrated and smooth. But since it called the SUPER HA, it obviously has something that the normal HA does not have. And that is being able to retain twice the moisture in our skin, as compared to the normal hyaluronic acid! Thus, the skin feels more soft and supple!

Hada Labo SHA

The products are alcohol-free, fragrance-free and oil-free! So those with sensitive skin, feel free to try them out! But too bad the products are not for free, you can buy it at all Watson's stores in Singapore though! :p

But Hada Labo provides free samples for the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion! To get your free sample, head to this website: http://fr3b.com/hada_lado_regform/.

So spread the love of Hada Labo, just like these pretty Jap girls! :)
(But I wouldn't pat my face like the girl in the vid, sounds more like a slap! LOL!)

Other than the three products which I have, there are two other products in this range - Hydrating Milk and Hydrating Mask. The Hydrating Milk is actually a moisturizer. I'd have loved to review the Hydrating Mask but it was not given to me. So I have no idea how hydrating it is, as compared to the current hydrating sheet masks that I am using on a regular basis.

Oh, and before I go, I would also like to add that the Hada Labo products found in Watson's Singapore are all made in Japan! So they are as ichiban as my favorite Ishiya 白い恋人 chocolate biscuits. :p

-----------------------
Why I LOVE hydrating skincare products?
Due to my past skin problem, I realized the importance of skin hydration. By preventing skin dehydration, it also helps to prevent skin premature ageing. But most importantly, it really keeps my acne at bay. :)

No offense but this review says nothing about whether the product works or how good or bad it is. It just describes the obvious like this is lotion is sticky, that lotion is oily, etc and goes on and on about general info about the product that is akin to advertising. In other words, the 'review' is more like advertisement and nothing more. Not very helpful I'm afraid. So are they good or not? If good, why? Any marked difference since using the product? eg. more hydrated skin? more radiant? less wrinkles? no breakouts?, etc

Thanks for your feedback. Will take note of it. :)

Apolgies if my post tend to be more of a product description, and if it is not helpful to you....

But I did write about it being hydrated... Ok, so maybe I missed out about mentioning about breakouts, etc.... (Good suggestion btw, thank you!)

As I have stated in my post, yeap my skin was certainly more hydrated. Didnt feel as dry.

Wrinkles.... erm, cant comment. Cos I dont have them.

Breakouts nope. This product is suitable for my sensitive skin.

Will certainly improve on my future reviews! Thanks :)

Hi, do you think the essence is a better choice than using the milk? I've oily skin and im not sure if using the essence everyday will be too overpowering for me.

@Anonymous I have not tried the milk, so I am unable to advise you on which is better. Sorry! But since the milk is a moisturizer, it has to be applied most of the time... As compared to the essence.

I usually do not apply essence in the morning. I only apply at night as the essence may be too 'rich'/oily for the day (esp with the day's heat and my makeup).

Essence is good for the skin, but even so, I do not apply it every night, but on alternate nights instead. You may like to try this method and see if it works for your skin combination :)

Have used the lotion. I fell in love with the Hada Labo brand! It reduces my skin's oiliness and make it glow!

@Anonymous Awesome! I love it as it really hydrates my skin (due to acne-fighting products that will then dry up my skin). :)
