In my recent post, I mentioned that I went to The Promontory for the Celebration @ Marina Bay event last Friday. Here's a post with lotsa photos and this is only Part One! :p
I was there on the first day of the event and upon reaching the venue, the very first thing I noticed after @anthonyl1m dropped me off was the Samsung bus...
Next, I noticed a huge number of people, and many were crowding aroung,
taking pictures of...??? (see below)

YOG Mascots - Merly and Lyo! :)
I proceeded to the seating area, which was divided into several sections for different categories. And I was sitting at the second row from the front! All thanks to Ashton who reached early and got seats for some of us. :)

I witnessed the arrival of the YOG torch, which also marked the end of the 305km Journey of the Youth Olympic flame (JYOF). Throughout the whole JYOF, I think the most remarkable story was about a boy who ran in his flip flops for almost 15km, snapping pictures of the torchbearers, who later became a torchbearer himself. Truly inspiring story! :)
(Picture below) This was the nearest that I have ever been to MM Lee in my entire life, all with the help of the zoom lens (zoomed to the max of the 18-200mm lens). He was the GOH for the Opening Ceremony of the event.

YOG organising committee chairman Ng Ser Miang handed the torch to Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to light the community cauldron.
VOX, Singapore's first Pop/Rock String Quartet, gave a great performance.
Then there was the Urban Drum Crew group. Totally entertaining!
They had guys lying on the ground and the two members hit away!
Then a fascinating performance,
combining the light, sound and water elements into one splendid performance!
